How do I verify the authenticity of my certificate?

Through the online Training Certificate Authentication Service

Training certificates issued by PNTC-MTAC are tagged with a unique security code called the Secure Encrypted Key (SEK). To verify your certificate:

  1. Look for the QR code with the Secure Encrypted Key (SEK) tag on your training certificate.
  2. Use your smartphone’s QR scanner to generate and copy your training certificate’s unique SEK.
  3. Go to https://pntc.edu.ph/maritime-training-center.  Click Certificate Verification on the navigation bar, and the Training Certificate Authentication Service website will open in a pop-up window.
  4. Enter the SEK you copied on the verification site. In the absence of a QR scanner, you may also manually input the string of characters printed beside the QR code.
  5. Click “Validate” to view your training certificate’s details. If your training certificate is authentic, the details on the authentication site should match those on your hard copy.

Note: The SEK is case-sensitive. Changing any part of the SEK will display an invalid message.

Soft copies of the TCROA are regularly submitted to MARINA and encoded on the MISMO System. You will find your records under the MISMO Training Tab.PNG. Please note that we do not encode training courses completed BEFORE SEP 2019.

If your recent training records do not appear under your Training tab, you may contact the Training Registration Office to request encoding:

My training certificate is older than two (2) years. Can I still use it for my COP issuance/revalidation application?

No, training certificates will be accepted in COP applications within the first two years before the date of application only. If your training certificate is older than two years, you will be required to retake the training.

What practical assessments do you offer?

We are an accredited Assessment Center (AC) for the practical assessments of II/4, III/4, II/5, and III/5. Please go to Practical Assessments for an overview.

What is the difference between the training course and the practical assessment?

To get the COP of II/5 or III/5, you need 4 things:

  1. be at least 18 y/o
  2. II/4 COP (if applying for II/5) or III/4 COP (if applying for III/5)
  3. Sea service (if lacking, take training)
  4. Practical assessment of II/5 or III/5 (Certificate of Assessment)

To get the Application Number for the practical assessment, you need to meet the first 3 requirements.

The training becomes relevant under the third requirement: sea service.

If your sea service is lacking, MARINA will reject your application and ask you to take AB Deck or AB Engine.

Is there a package that includes both the training and the practical assessment?

As a rule, trainees are not allowed to take the training course and the practical assessment from the same institute, so we cannot offer them as a package.

If you take our training course, you have to find an assessment center other than PNTC.

To take our practical assessment, your AB training certificate must not be from PNTC.
